How to read Instagram messages without seen?

Instagram is constantly growing and is becoming famous among the people. Instagram changed over time and added a lot of features. In addition to uploading photos and videos to Instagram, you can also send messages to Instagram / DM in Instagram.

How to Read Instagram DMs Without Seen?

As a part of the Instagram feature, if you send a DM to Instagram, you can check whether the person saw that message or not, with the help of the icon seen the Instagram message.

This is very simple, if you had read the message then the sender can see the Instagram message seen icon which would indicate that the person had read the Instagram message. Many of us interact with people who are not our friends on Instagram, and sometimes you might want to check a message they have sent but not “seen”.

When you check a DM on Instagram, it is immediately marked as “seen” for both you and the other person sending it. WhatsApp has the option to turn off Read Receipt (Blue Tick) but Instagram does not have any such feature.

Easy Ways to Read Instagram DM without knowing them:

1) By Using Flight Mode:

First of all, when you receive a message on Instagram, if your notifications are on, do not tap on the notification bar. In this way, the messages will appear and you will fail. Therefore, do not open notifications, and if you do not want to do it inadvertently, close your notifications or mute the conversation that you do not want to mark as seen.

Then, open the Instagram app, tap on the arrow at the top right corner of the screen and open your inbox to load messages. But, do not open the desired conversation. Now, close the Instagram app completely and disconnect the internet connection.

Then, open the Instagram app again, go to your DM inbox and read the messages. Note that your internet connection is still closed! Done! You read Instagram messages without looking.

However, this is not the best method possible. Because as soon as you connect to the internet, the messages will appear and as mentioned, this is just a temporary solution.

2) By Using Restrict Feature on Instagram:

You can use the new restricted feature of Instagram to read a friend’s DM without triggering the ‘Scene’ icon. “They won’t be able to see when you’re online, or if you’ve read their messages,” Instagram states.

To ban someone via DM, tap on the DM icon and enter a chat with the person you want to ban. Then tap on the “i” icon at the top right of the chat and tap Restrict> Restrict Account. You can also ban someone by commenting on your post.

Find their comment and swipe left on it (iPhone) or tap and hold it on (Android). Again “!” Tap on the symbol and press Restrict> Restrict Account. Alternatively, you can restrict people through settings.

  • Go to your profile and tap on the icon that looks like three vertical lines.
  • Then tap Settings, then Privacy, and then Restricted Accounts.
  • Tap Continue and then search for the account you want to ban.
  • Next, simply tap on Restrict next to their username and the setting will be activated.

3) By Using Third Party Apps:

Many third-party services allow you to connect and read your Instagram messages without telling the other user. For example, AirGrow lets you read messages without sending a read receipt. It also has the option to send your DM over email.

However, we generally do not like this method because the other methods are quite easy. Also, they bring some privacy risks — use them only when you can trust these third-party services about your data.

How to know if they have seen our Instagram Messages?

Instagram provides immediate feedback to let you know that a message has been read (or at least seen) by its recipient. If the message is private (one on one), you will see ‘seen’ below your message as the recipient reads it. It works the same way as reading receipts on other messaging apps.
