A new rumor claims that not only is the successor to the mid-range OnePlus Nord – called the OnePlus Nord 2 – but that it will launch without a Snapdragon chipset, instead of silicon from MediaTek.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset has powered the most prominent Android phones over the years, sold exclusively in the US and Europe, and all OnePlus phones date back to 2014 OnePlus One and it’s Snapdragon 801.
But instead of the MediaTek Dimension 1200 chipset, the OnePlus Nord 2 Pack will be, sources said, Android Central. He also claimed that the phone will launch in Q2 2021, which could be up to next month.
OnePlus Nord 2 to Launch Without a Snapdragon Chipset!
Xiaomi has four new cheap phones, and one may be the best budget camera phone
Nubia red magic 6 is here with the best screen of any gaming phone. Realme’s new Android phone is here, but its Galaxy S21 Ultra-rival Shivalinga is missing.
The OnePlus Nord has used a mid-to-upper tier 7nm Snapdragon 765G chipset, and the Nord 2’s 6nm dimension 1200 has been seen as an improvement. Both are octa-core silicon,
But the latter is capable of higher sheer speeds: six-core with Snapdragon 765G with a core at 2.3Ghz and performance core at 2.2Ghz (both Cortex-A76) with 1.8Ghz (Cortex-A55) ),
While Dimension 1200’s core cores get up to 3.0Ghz (Cortex A78), three other A78 cores up to 2.6Ghz, and four efficiency cores (Cortex A55) increase to 2.0Ghz.
Whether this translates to improved performance in every situation is dependent on speculation given other factors such as RAM and OS integration, but it is a major step forward for MediaTek to expand into the first Qualcomm Snapdragon-only brand.
It also raises questions about the power of the Nord 2 – and whether a more powerful chipset will raise the price of the rumored affordable phone.
What’s the Next Budget for the OnePlus Generation?
The real question may be which place is Nord 2 in the lineup of OnePlus phones. 2020 saw the launch of the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and the lower-spec Nord N100, both lower than the original OnePlus Nord.
While we expected the OnePlus Nord SE to bridge the gap in power offering over the N10 5G, but at a better price than the Nord, we didn’t hear much about its release plans.
As such, we expect the Nord 2 to be the right mid-range inheritor – and a more affordable alternative to the upcoming OnePlus 9 – when it launches in the coming months, so this report is to be believed.
OnePlus Nord 2 Specifications:
On Android Central, people have received information that OnePlus Nord 2 will be equipped with MediaTek Dimension 1200 chipset. It is a powerful (as well as an efficient) chipset built on a 6nm process.
It is an octa-core processor that offers a maximum of 3.0GHz, 5G connectivity, and a nine-core Mali-G77 GPU. It also supports 5G dual SIM dual standby, which is a feature that is not currently available on any Qualcomm chipset.
If OnePlus uses the MediaTek Dimension 1200 chipset on the OnePlus Nord 2, it will be a big deal for MediaTek. The company has always been shut down for many years by Qualcomm but the performance of its chips has been increased to match.
The Dimension series has changed things for the manufacturer as many brands have used their chipsets on flagship and mid-range devices. According to the source, the OnePlus Nord 2 launch will be in the second quarter of 2021.
This should once again be an affordable offer from the company on the lines of the original Nord. The Dimension 1200 SoC will also be a major improvement over the Snapdragon 765G used on the current OnePlus Nord. More details about the specifications of the Nord 2 will be available in the coming weeks.
What will be the Price of the OnePlus Nord 2 in India?
